The Koru has moved the date of the general election, closed the Legislative Council and has proposed a Constitutional Amendment to the Constitutional Council following earlier discussions with their Chief Advisor.

I have made the careful and calculated decision to effectively close the Legislative Council and suspend the upcoming general election in order to clear a growing backlog in the Legislative Council and to further strengthen the Council’s policies in order to ensure that we can build a robust style of democracy in Hokoria.

I do not intend to hold the general election in May or in June. My Constitutional Council will continue to assume the Legislative Council’s powers and duties until the time is right.
