Their Majesty the Koru, Willow I, addressed the nation on Friday evening following their earlier statement on the future of the Hokorian State.

Attended by Hokorians and foreign guests including from Curnon, Novafides, Gunaka, Northwood-Oregon, Levinia, Lorc’h, Tayaka and Stret Merhdin, they set out their plan for Hokoria’s future and addressed the main issue at hand: Hokoria’s declining community.

“We have lost our joy and whimsey”

The Koru recognised that despite numerous restructuring attempts, Hokoria is a nation without a people, questioning what the point of maintaining a government is if there are no people to govern.

Looking at the cause, they referred to the Book of Aweland- the book containing Aweland/Hokoria’s first ever laws and values and pointed out that community was the very first value.

They stated that in trying to develop Hokoria and turn it into a more formal nation, we put less focus on the community and abandoned it. Hokoria has lost its joy and whimsey.

“A community first, a nation second”

The Koru addressed members in Hokoria’s community who believed that community and cultural affairs were not the responsibility of government, saying that “community and cultural stuff has always been part of government, from the very start”, expressing that they “couldn’t disagree more” with such claims.

Setting out their plan, they announced that the government would be reduced but that “Parliament would remain active and relevent”, with further details to be announced in the coming days after consultations with MPs and Prime Minister Asa Ward.

They added that the focus would turn to rebuilding Hokoria’s community, working to hold community events and transform things to “a community first, a nation second.”

Wider issues in the community

The Koru recognised that activity isn’t an issue limited to Hokoria, but a pattern seen across the micronational community.

In particular, they identified Curnon as a nation they felt was at risk of falling into the same fate as Hokoria, though adding “I’m sure it’ll be fine.”

They also highlighted efforts in the community, including by Northwood-Oregon’s Carson I who created a popular Micronations Discord server which brought people together.
