Campaigning allows individuals and groups to promote views, support candidates or influence outcomes in elections and referendums.
Right to campaign
Every Hokorian citizen has the right to campaign in elections and referendums and to participate in public affairs.
This includes the right to:
- express opinions
- share information and ideas
- support or oppose candidates or proposals
These rights are protected under the Constitution.
Conduct during campaigning
Campaigning must be carried out lawfully and responsibly.
You must not:
- harass, intimidate or threaten others
- interfere with another person’s right to vote
- improperly influence or pressure voters
Freedom of expression
Campaigning is part of the right to freedom of expression.
This means you can communicate your views openly.
Participation in elections
Campaigning can take place:
- individually
- as part of a group or organisation
- as a registered candidate
