If you believe a civil decision is incorrect or unfair, you may be able to appeal.
When you can appeal
You may appeal a decision within a reasonable time after it is made.
An appeal must clearly explain:
- the grounds for the appeal
- any error or unfairness in the original decision
How to file an appeal
To file an appeal:
- prepare a statement of your grounds
- identify the decision you are appealing
- submit your appeal through the Court’s system
The Court will arrange for the appeal to be heard, usually by a different Judge.

The appeal authority may:
- uphold the original decision
- overturn the decision
- modify the decision
- order a new hearing
