Hokoria has two main courts. The Court of the Star Chamber handles criminal cases and the High Court of Justice handles civil cases.

Both courts act in the name of the Koru and follow the Constitution.

Addressing Judges

Judges in the Star Chamber are called “Your Reverence,” and judges in the High Court are called “Justice (Surname).”

Using the Courts

Citizens can bring cases to the courts. For civil matters, anyone can apply in writing to the High Court. Criminal cases are usually started by law enforcement or the Ministry of Justice. During a trial, everyone involved can present evidence and speak to the court.

In the High Court, defendants can choose a jury of five citizens or be judged by a single Justice.

What the Courts Do

The courts hear cases, make decisions and enforce orders across the state. They can issue summonses and warrants to ensure justice is served.

Records and Officers

All cases are recorded, including evidence, charges and verdicts. Court officers, like Court Clerks, help run the courts and cannot be prosecuted for doing their job.

Role of the Koru

The Koru can request a retrial, overturn a decision, or dissolve the courts if needed. Any ongoing cases would then be transferred to another court.
