You can ask the Government, Koru’s Office and Assembly for personal information held about you using the Subject Access Request (SAR) service.

Every individual has the legal right to access their own personal data held by public authorities. This right applies to both citizens and non-citizens.

You do not need to give a reason for your request.

Making a request

You can make a Subject Access Request using the Subject Access Request Service or by emailing ‘sar@hokoriagov.net‘.

The service allows people to request personal information held about them by the Government, Assembly, Koru’s Office and all public authorities.

Authorities will provide reasonable assistance and handle requests without unnecessary formality.

Time and fees

The Subject Access Request service is completely free.

Authorities must respond within 14 working days. A working day is Monday to Thursday, excluding public holidays.

In complex cases, this may be extended once by up to 14 additional working days. Written reasons will be given where an extension is used.

All valid requests will receive a response.

Identity checks

To protect your information, authorities must confirm your identity before releasing personal data.

If you are not a Hokorian citizen, you may be asked to provide information that clearly links you to the records you are requesting.

For particularly sensitive records, additional secure checks may be required.

Restrictions

You can only use the Subject Access Request service to request personal data about yourself.

You cannot use this service to request general government information. General information must be requested through a Freedom of Information request.

Appeals

If you are unhappy with how your request has been handled, you can make a complaint to the Information and Data Protection Office (IDPO).

The IDPO can investigate, order disclosure or take enforcement action where required.
