The world is waking up to the deeply disappointing news that a convicted felon, rapist, and fascist has been elected by over 70 million Americans to assume the presidency on the 20th January 2025. It is truly disheartening that a man who disregards the rule of law and democracy, while spreading dangerous rhetoric, can once again take the helm of the world’s largest economy and strongest military.
A Trump presidency is built on fear. Women and minorities are anxious about what this result means for them, whether it’s their right to make informed decisions about their own bodies, their access to essential healthcare, or even their right to exist freely.
His values stand in stark contrast to ours. He embodies a disregard for democratic principles, the manipulation of the rule of law, the destruction of our environment, and the exacerbation of economic divides, among many other concerns. My Government stands in solidarity with the people in America who are fearful for themselves and their loved ones.
