• Chancellor’s New Years statement

    Published by the

    Hokorian Government

The Chancellor, Officer Iker Rodríguez Rodríguez COH PROH, has released a statement for the 2024 New Year.

The year that is coming to an end has once again been a year full of milestones for our state.

First, Hokoria made its mark on the world, particularly by participating in micronational organizations. It was also the year we saw our nation become a member of the Cupertino Alliance, one of the most respected and established inter-micronational organisations in the world. Achieving all of this in just our first year of existence has proven that Hokoria has all the tools to achieve its dreams and will thrive for years to come.

We also saw a growth in the number of our citizens. Now that we have been founded for 7 months, we are grateful that each and every one of you has decided to support and be part of our nation. We also saw some activity in our government with the appointment of five members to the Council of Representatives. I would like to personally thank our Head of State, Arōnis nan Rūvas, and our former Head of State, Willow I, for their contributions. We hope more people will join you in 2024 so we can benefit from its full potential.

2024 will be a year of consolidation. A year in which we monitor what we did last year and improve it.

2023 will be the year of conflicts with Som, tensions with Salanda, but we Hokorians have managed to carry this out with confidence and dedication, putting Hokoria in a great position in the micronational world.

Thank you all very much, happy new year 2024!

  • Hokoria-Gunaka joint statement regarding Suteria and Egemonica

    Published by the

    Hokorian Government

The State of Hokoria’s Department of Exterior Affairs and the Kingdom of Gunaka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs have released a joint statement regarding the ongoing dispute and deterioration in relations between the Kingdom of Suteria and the Kingdom of Egemonica.

The State of Hokoria and the Kingdom of Gunaka are committed to monitoring the current situation between the Kingdom of Suteria and the Kingdom of Egemonica. We’re working with the leaders of both nations to work towards peaceful de-escalation.

Joint statement from the State of Hokoria and the Kingdom of Gunaka

The Kingdom of Gunaka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also added a separate statement.

The Kingdom of Gunaka denounces the war mongering, terroristic threats made by Suteria. The Empire and her allies stand ready to defend their Egemonican allies against these childish attacks.

Ministry of Gunakian Foreign Affairs, Section 2 (Gunaka)

The Department of Exterior Affairs added it’s own statement.

It’s disheartening to hear about the deterioration in relations and that Suterians have supposedly been calling for military action. A conflict will not be met with any support from the State of Hokoria and will only result in retaliation, which we are very keen to avoid at all costs.

    Department of Exterior Affairs

  • A new national identity

    Published by the

    Hokorian Government

The Founder of Hokoria and the Head of State have spent the last month working on a new national identity for the State of Hokoria. We’re pleased to be able to share Hokoria’s new identity with you, the people.

The new identity takes form through a new flag for the State of Hokoria. Flags are important symbols for nations, the State of Hokoria not being an exception to this. Alongside the new flag, a coat of arms and new government logos have been created. There will also be a renaming of some Hokorian positions and how we officially refer to concepts, councils and more. These will also be detailed here.

Originally, citizens were told that there was a possibility of Hokoria’s new flag being put forward in a national referendum. However, the Head of State has decided that it will not for the sake of making the transition smoother and being able to implement the flag before the new year. A change to the national identity of Hokoria was first suggested by the Department of Exterior Affairs, which promised work to “rebrand the State of Hokoria’s identity”.

    Published by the

    Hokorian Government

The Office of the Head of State and the Department of Exterior Affairs have written a joint-statement regarding the Grand Unified Micronational Supreme Court’s dismissal of case 2023-7.

We’re highly disappointed by the dismissal of the investigation petition filed by the Head of State, Arōnis nan Rūvas against the leader of the Kingdom of Salanda. It’s shocking to see the toleration of (and lack of accountability surrounding) bribery and invalid insinuation of Hokoria’s ‘imminent collapse’ be made by the court’s official. Nevertheless, we thank the GUM Supreme Court for its review and also urge the Kingdom of Salanda to do better, regardless of the court ruling.

  • Snap election of December 2023

    Published by the

    Hokorian Government

This post relates to an election. See our elections hub for more information and resources about elections.

The Head of State released a statement about a new election.

Following up from the recent implementation of the Act of Democratic Reform, I am announcing that there will be a snap election with voting starting on the 26th December 2023. Following delays regarding the democratic processes since the change in leadership, Hokoria will now have its first democratic elections since September.

As the Act of Democracy is no longer in force, and due to inactivity in the parties, all current political parties will be shut down, and citizens will once again have the right to form a new political party. However, unlike previous elections, there are some changes to how parties work. Political parties will need a minimum of five members to be eligible to run in elections, the reason for this is that we will have five seats in our legislature, which will also be revealed soon once we’ve had some time to work on it. This is also to prevent having multiple parties with similar ideas, when you could have one party that has a chance of winning the election.

If a party controls 3/5 seats, then the leader of that party shall be elected Chancellor.

  • How we’re doing with our targets

    Published by the

    Hokorian Government

The Department of Exterior Affairs released a statement regarding it’s plan until January 2024.

I’d like to provide an update on the Department of Exterior Affairs’ plan and how we’re currently doing in regards to it.

My department has been actively engaging in talks with foreign leaders and the citizens of their states in order to create positive relations between Hokoria, foreign governments and their people. We’re on track for our targets in regards to treaties and relations, with foreign policy and a Hokorian Standard being part of what we’re currently working on with the Office of the Head of State.

We’re remaining dedicated to allowing citizens to engage more with the Department of Exterior Affairs, having relaunched our foreign advisory service and working on a representation system that would allow citizens to help develop Hokoria’s advice towards the nations that are close to them. However, we’re facing difficulties with our economic plans due to the Office of Economics no longer being maintained. Finding a way around this is a priority and is something that the Head of State is working with us to resolve.

One transparency report has already been released by the Office of the Head of State and the Department of Exterior Affairs, with the decision to make a joint-report made due to the close nature of the Head of State and Hokoria’s exterior relations.

Proposals have been made to the Head of State which included the remaking of Hokoria’s flag and a new emblem for the Central Government of Hokoria. We hope to work with the Department of the Interior to make this a reality by January 2024.

  • Hokoria’s Exterior Affairs support for Curnon

    Published by the

    Hokorian Government

The Department of Exterior Affairs has conducted a protective operation that looked at identifying and resolving security vulnerabilities in Curnon’s online community.

The operation took place as part of Hokoria’s mission to supporting our allies and helping boost security in what are often vulnerable micronational digital spaces.

Curnon’s virtual community “Curnon@Discord” had a verification process, and a tight set of rules, but nothing more. We had no slowdowns in a specific channel, bots, or raid protection. I very much appreciate Hokoria deciding to help Curnon as a nation in fortifying its biggest online community.

They made many changes, including ensuring the prevention of spam or raids, adding bots, and adjusting the permissions of roles. This will likely work very well to prevent chaos in this virtual community, as up until now only 2 people were left to manage the whole server, 1 with poor internet.

We have also received multiple tips on how to further improve the server, including making a ticketing system of verification, and enabling the 2FA requirement. This is all very useful, and we thank Hokoria for taking the time to help this virtual community stay free of many problems than can, and do no longer haunt it.

    Published by the

    Hokorian Government

The Office of the Head of State has released a statement regarding the Act of Democratic Reform.

I have passed the Act of Democratic Reform, which replaces the earlier Act of Democracy that was earlier repealed. The Act of Democratic Reform retains some aspects of the Act of Democracy, but I have made several changes, including new types of democratic process, and changes to how these democratic processes work. This new law can be found on our official website, and the groundwork is being layed for a potential new democratically elected legislature to increase citizen participation in government.

The new Act of Embassies changes key terminology that restricted embassies to foreign states. As embassies exist in Hokoria to allow representation to be made and news from outside of Hokoria to be published, it made sense that these changes were made in order to widen Hokoria’s connections.

  • Head of State shuts down Hokorian Council and repeals Act of Democracy

    Published by the

    Hokorian Government

Head of State Arōnis nan Rūvas made an official announcement at 23:40 on the 14th November 2023.

The Hokorian Council has been officially dissolved, and the Act of Democracy repealed until further notice.

Arōnis nan Rūvas, Head of State

This news is not shocking, as the Hokorian Council has faced the longest period of inactivity since it was founded. The last official vote was in early August 2023 on the GOCO‘s Treaty of the Tides.

    What does this mean?

This action has rendered Hokoria an absolute dictatorship, with no democratic processes now in place for the nation. Regions are now obsolete, alongside the Act of Passing Laws.

Officially, there is no way for new acts of laws and policy to be enacted, however the Head of State is expected to use his powers from the Act of Government to ensure that operations are maintained and that Hokoria isn’t brought to a complete standstill.

The Office of the Chancellor has not been democratically filled since August 2023.

    Why has this happened?

The Office of the Head of State has not released any official reasoning for these actions, but a more detailed release is expected in the coming days.

This comes after Wacky Aytc-H was relieved from the position just days earlier due to unspecified complaints from representatives in the Global Oceanic Cooperation Organization, which the State of Hokoria is a member of.

  • Cutting ties with Salanda

    Published by the

    Hokorian Government

The State of Hokoria is officially withdrawing from all and any contact with the Kingdom of Salanda as we do not agree with it’s mission and stance regarding the human rights violations being committed by Israel.

How this relates to current affairs

Following the attacks that Hamas launched on Israel, which caused the deaths of over 1,500 Israelis and Palestinians. The media has been actively covering the attacks, rises in antisemitism and protests supporting the freedom of Palestinians and the State of Palestine.

    What is our stance

We actively recognise Palestine as a state on an official basis, and this will not change. We would like to clarify that we do not recognise ‘Hamas’ in any official capacity. On the 9th August 2023, the Foreign Service changed it’s recognition of the State of Palestine to only recognise territory and not government or leadership in response to the denial of genocide. Our belief is that Israel is an apartheid state and that human rights violations have been and are continuing to be committed by Israel against Palestinians.

    How this relates to Salanda

Salanda does support the Israeli forces in committing crimes against humanity. Hokoria does not want to be associated with this. We do not expect a response by the Government of the Kingdom of Salanda, with the exception of our officials being removed from accessing their services, but we hope that by making this statement and by taking this action, Hokorians can rest assured knowing that Hokoria does not support the atrocities being committed.

    Published by the

    Hokorian Government

The State of Hokoria officially has a new Head of State, Arōnis nan Rūvas who become the successor of Founder, Willow I on the 15th September 2023.

In an official statement, Willow I said the following:

    Dear Hokorians,

It’s been a pleasure to serve for you as the Head of State, however it is now my time to depart. Your new Head of State is Arōnis nan Rūvas, a more than capable individual that is trusted by myself, but most importantly, the Council of the State.

Unfortunately, my departure will be less gradual than I expected it to be. Effective immediately, I will have transferred all Hokorian resources to the Head of State and am leaving Discord permanently. This is completely my choice, and whilst it may not be best for the community, I never anticipated how demanding my new education setting would be.

To make it clear, Hokoria is no longer in my hands and I am no longer your Head of State. My original vision of creating a Hokoria that we can all be proud of is now in someone else’s hands.

I urge you to work with Head of State Arōnis nan Rūvas to ensure that Hokoria continues to live on. It is in your hands as the people to continue Hokoria. Will you step up?

    Willow I, Founder

    What does this mean?

Willow I no longer has any powers within the State of Hokoria. Arōnis nan Rūvas has officially taken over their duties.

    Published by the

    Hokorian Government

The Head of State has released the following statement:

Dear Hokorians and esteemed foreign dignitaries,

I write to you all today with the news that I am officially resigning from my position as the Head of State.

This decision has not been made lightly in the slightest, and has been made with the best intentions for Hokoria in mind. My personal life and my time is currently becoming consumed as I begin my time at college and I am simply no longer able to fulfill my duties to the best of my ability.

By resigning, I know that an individual will be appointed in my place and that I will have the chance to train them into an even more capable Head of State than myself. This change will not happen instantly, and will take place when the Council of the State officially appoints their chosen individual to their position, at which point I will cease to have authority and power within Hokoria.

I hope that you can understand the nature of this decision.

    Published by the

    Hokorian Government

Today the Hokorian Council passed Proposal A-07-8-23, which motioned for the usage of UTC+0 for official times with no changes to be made during typical daylight saving periods.

Different summer and daylight saving times have little impact on the State of Hokoria as they do in macronations. Hokoria operates in a different manner and has no reason to alternate times. Work isn’t affected by this, it’s simply a unique formality.

Founder, Willow I’s statement regarding diversity and inclusion in the State of Hokoria.

From the beginning, inclusivity has been at the heart of the State of Hokoria and the micronations that came before it, including the Republic of Aweland.

It is truly disheartening to see social conflict taking place around the world because of one’s religion, gender, race, sexuality and political views. In creating the State of Hokoria, an inclusive and diverse community is what I wanted to created.

Hokoria is has always been and will continue to be welcome to people of all religions, races, political views, genders and sexualities. Acts of discrimination and hate speech will not be tolerated, for our community is proud of who we are and what we are. None of us are the same, yet we collectively strive to support each other.

    Published by the

    Hokorian Government

The Former Chancellor Arōnis nan Rūvas has released an official statement that details his concerns for Proposal A-20-7-23 and the Plan for the State of Hokoria which seeks to scrap the State of Hokoria’s territorial claims of Yeadon Tarn, Leeds.

It is my belief that the Plan for Hokoria’s territory is mostly a bad idea. I say mostly because I do support some aspects of it, but otherwise, I believe it is not a good idea to implement it. One of the main aspects of this plan is that Hokoria would renounce its territorial claims, and this is where I believe this plan goes wrong.

  • Plans to scrap territorial claims

    Published by the

    Hokorian Government

The Head of State has released an internal document directed to members of the Hokorian Council regarding a recent proposal titled ‘Proposal A-20-7-23’ which seeks to entirely scrap the State of Hokoria’s territorial claims.

The territory is managed officially by the authority of Leeds City Council, under the United Kingdom’s ‘Local Government Act 2000’. Officially, the territory is not controlled by the Central Government of Hokoria or any of its local governments due to a lack of physical resources available to control such an area.

Furthermore, should the State of Hokoria have such resources, it is largely believed that local residents of the town of Yeadon would not benefit from their local space being managed by the State of Hokoria.

It is for this reason that I am proposing that we ‘scrap’ our claims of this area in favour of a future purchase of our own land which may be used to achieve an independent Hokoria.

  • Animals in the Hokorian territory

    Published by the

    Hokorian Government

A statement from the Head of State:

Today I conducted a visit on Hokorian territory in order to further document our territories, the wildlife and the conditions.

Whilst there, I discovered a concerning amount of disturbances to wildlife, most of which at the hands of humans.

    Littering in the Baria region

From when my investigations began, I came across high amounts of litter which had accumulated within the Baria territory due to the direction of the water. This area particularly was also a place which ducks and swans had gathered, posing a hazard to them.

Myself and an aide who had assisted me came across a duck which had been caught within what appeared to be a fishing net. Unfortunately it was deceased.

This office firmly believes that the local UK government authority, Leeds City Council, should do more to protect the wildlife by increasing the surveillance of littering as well as introducing more restrictions on fishing which takes place within the lake.

A community announcement from the Office of the Chancellor:

We’re gonna open up jobs for people so they can afford these stickers, and hopefully tomorrow, we can start the sale of nobility titles. Some titles will be only available through purchase, some will be available through award. We’re still working on those. All purchases will be made in Hokorian Mikomi, the only currency we will accept in this country. Jobs should open in the next few days.

  • Stewartist State of Gradhsith

    Published by the

    Hokorian Government

I use my powers granted to me to order that all connections to Zachary Stewart or his ‘nation’ that he calls the Stewartist State of Gradhsith or any of its successor ‘states’ should he decide to make a new ‘nation’. All connections to Zachary and his ‘state’ must be terminated with immediate effect and never renewed. Zachary has acted antagonistically and as a war monger in the past, being the reason for many wars, violating treaties, blackmail, scapegoating, falsely accusing me of making his friend suicidal, openly bragging about being a war criminal, which under Kolniaric law, he was convicted of for violating the territorial sovereignty of a neutral country during a conflict, for condoning and defending someone who talked about raping children. Zachary Stewart is to be completely cut off from Hokoria with immediate effect.

    Hokorian Government

The group known as the ‘Tsardom of Som‘ recently announced a “crusade” against the State of Hokoria. In response, the Central Government of Hokoria has been issuing advisory and information for everyone.

In the past, the Tsardom of Som has been known to use malware as a way to attack the State of Hokoria. Malware can come in many different forms, including by links and files.

We would like to publish this advice on keeping your accounts safe. As we have strong security measures in place already, Som are finding it challenging to get access and may choose to hack accounts.

    • Enable 2-factor-authentication on your Discord account. Find out how.
    • Do not click links that seem suspicious. If a website is well known, look for slight spelling mistakes in the site’s URL before opening.
    • Do not download or open files that seem suspicious.

If you believe that your Discord account has been hacked, you can take steps to get your account back. Find out how.
