When a person is suspected to have committed a criminal offense under Hokorian law, an ‘authorised official’ (prosecutor) must bring an accusation to Court.
This is to ensure that the defendant gets a fair trial and is able to defend themselves in front of a Judge.
Filing a criminal accusation
The prosecutor must file the accusation with the Koru’s Court using the online form.
The filing form requires that the prosecutor provides details such as:
- Their own name, email address and position,
- The defendant’s name, date of birth and contact details,
- Details of the accusation made against the defendant, including under what Section and Statute,
- A brief summary of the evidence available at the time of filing,
- Whether or not the filing requires consideration for a sealed hearing.
Once filed, it is sent to the Court. The Court will check that all the correct information is provided and will contact the defendant and prosecutor with a date and time for the first hearing and plea entry.
Correcting mistakes on a filing
If a mistake has been made when making a filing, you should contact the Koru’s Court immediately by email at ‘court-services@hokoriagov.net’.
It is not necessary to correct a filing if new evidence has been found, as this will be considered by the Court in an appropriate hearing.
