Presumption of innocence

You are presumed innocent unless the Court finds you guilty according to law.

Right to know the accusation

You must be informed of the accusation made against you.

Right to a fair hearing

All parties must be treated equally and without bias during proceedings.

Right to present a defence

You may:

  • Make legal arguments
  • Respond to evidence presented against you

Right to representation

You may represent yourself or appoint another person to represent you in Court.

Right to adequate preparation

You must be given reasonable time to prepare for hearings.

Protection against self-incrimination

You cannot be forced to provide evidence against yourself.
